Federle Tapped As Next CEO, Forbes Media

Forbes Media president and COO Mike Federle will succeed Mike Perlis as CEO of Forbes Media beginning January 1.

Perlis is stepping down after seven years as CEO. He will serve as vice chairman and strategic advisor to management and the board.

Federle stated: “We have a talented and seasoned team and, together, we look forward to driving our global expansion and continuing to realize the enormous potential of the Forbes brand and business.”

Last July, Forbes Media promoted Federle, who was then COO of the company, to president, a role that Perlis held at the time.

Perlis kept his CEO title, as well as assumed the additional role of executive chairman.

Federle and Perlis are two of the first non-Forbes family members to hold key positions in the company.

Federle joined Forbes Media in 2011. Previously, he served as publisher of Fortune magazine and group publisher of the Time Inc. Business and Finance Network, which included media properties Fortune, Money, Business2.0 and CNNMoney.com.

Federle is cofounder of Techonomy Media Inc., and served as its president and COO.
