Horizon Media Launches First Canadian Office

Horizon Media is expanding into Canada for the first time with a new office in Toronto.

This expansion is designed to better serve and bring greater local market insights to Horizon clients with Canadian operations.

Kevin Kivi, formerly with MediaCom Canada, will lead the new Horizon office as senior vice president and general manager, Horizon Media Canada.

In this role, Kivi will partner with senior leadership at Horizon Media to grow the agency’s Canadian footprint and lead Canadian client teams as well as serve on Horizon Media’s executive board.

Kivi will report to Horizon CEO Bill Koenigsberg. Kivi, with nearly two decades of industry experience, has worked with clients such as Mars Wrigley Inc., Dairy Queen, Shell, Bayer, Procter & Gamble, Adidas, Kraft, General Mills, and Cadbury Schweppes.

"We are in a unique position to be able to establish the Horizon Media brand in the Canadian market," says Kivi, alluding to the fact he has strong local connections and will be aided by the support and resources behind the broader Horizon network. "We also plan to pitch Canadian-only accounts in the future," he says. "We think that our offering presents a new option for Canadian brands seeking a new media agency option in the Canadian market."

The decision to head North was largely client driven. Horizon Media currently handles over $8 billion in client investments. "We have a good number of clients with international operations, and the greatest concentration of these are in Canada," says Vinnie O’Toole, executive vice president, chief operating officer and chief financial officer, Horizon Media. Toronto's position as a key business center in Canada helped to determine the selection of the agency’s Canadian headquarters.

Additional new talent will join Horizon Media Canada in coming months. "We will continue to assess our hiring needs as we roll out the business," says Kivi.
