KFC Store Unveils New, Chicken-Themed Merchandise

KFC had an immediate, campy hit on its hands when it debuted  its first online assortment of branded fried-chicken fashion and products this past July.

Most of the limited-edition items — which included a classic black string tie and socks and pocket squares festooned with images of chicken parts — sold out in a couple of days.

Eve a 400-year-old meteorite shaped to look like a KFC Zinger sandwich, at $20,000, was purchases, by a vegan couple. (The husband was a Zinger fan before he gave up meat.)

Not surprising, then, that the “KFC Ltd.” online store has just been restocked with new goodies for the holidays.

This time around, the offerings include holiday wrapping paper featuring images of Colonel Sanders and fried drumsticks wearing Santa hats ($17); a “legal tenders” money clip ($20); a T-shirt that looks like the Colonel’s double-breasted suit jacket and string tie ($18); a plush chicken-pattern pillow ($32), and a pillow case bearing a “sleeping,” side-view image of the Colonel’s face.

Oddest — and most expensive ($5,000), of all: an “internet escape pod” with a long-armed effigy of The Colonel perched atop (above).

Oh, the holidays! What a lovely time it would be for you and your loved ones, if it weren't for the fact that you'll be ignoring each other and staring at your phones,” reads the sell copy. ”Find sanctuary from digital temptation under Colonel Sanders and his internet escape pod. Yup, this dome is like a magic force field designed to disrupt the internet coming to and from your devices. So this holiday season, let Colonel Sanders' protective embrace help take you, and up to three average-sized adults, back to a simpler time…”

At least one item is back (or left over) from the summer: a gold necklace with the “Finger lickin’ good” motto spelled out in script ($12).
As before, supplies of the merchandise are limited. Orders must be in by Dec. 15 to ship in time for Christmas.
