Weight Watchers Taps DJ Khaled As Its Social Media Rep

Weight Watchers International is really pulling out the stops for this New Year. 

In addition to introducing its more flexible “Freestyle” program with ubiquitous TV ads featuring WW investor, board member, strategic advisor and cheerleader Oprah Winfrey, it’s now announced that hip music producer/recording artist DJ Khaled will act as its social media ambassador.

Khaled has joined the program, and will document his experience and progress on the Freestyle plan on his TwitterInstagram, and Facebook channels (@djkhaled305). He’ll be using WW’s mobile app, and working with a WW coach, to follow the program.

“My son is my love, my life, and I need to be great for him," Khaled stated in the announcement. “To be great is to be healthy; to be healthy means a shift in my lifestyle, and the new WW Freestyle program is all about healthier habits for my life.”

Khaled’s large base of followers includes more than 8.9 million on Instagram, 3.9 million on Twitter, and 3.4 million on Facebook.

WW’s stock jumped 8% the day after the news hit.
