Santana Leads New Telemundo Unit

NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises has launched a new division, Telemundo Global Studios, led by Marcos Santana as president. He reports to Cesar Conde, NBCU International Group/ Telemundo Enterprises chairman.

For now, no new hires are anticipated with the consolidation, per a Telemundo spokesperson.

Rather than just an administrative convenience, the new structure, which unites Telemundo Studios, Telemundo International Studios and Telemundo International, capitalizes on the company’s momentum, she added.

Each unit targets specific audiences with its own content. At the end of 2017, Telemundo was the No. 1 Spanish broadcaster in prime time, per Nielsen.

Conde stated that Santana’s “decades of experience in content development, production and distribution” would be an asset as the company expanded its content.

The company also reports more than 94 million fans and followers across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube, up 28% year-over-year.

Telemundo International is the world’s second-largest distributor of Spanish-language content, reaching more than 120 countries, per the network.
