BMW Group Acquires Digital Parking Company Parkmobile

One major car maker will always have an idea of where to park

The BMW Group has just acquired Parkmobile, reported to be the largest provider of mobile parking services in North America.

This makes BMW Group the top international provider of digital parking solutions in the world, according to the company.

“Up to 30% of city traffic is caused by people looking for parking spaces,” stated Peter Schwarzenbauer, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG. “The acquisition makes us the leading international provider of digital parking solutions and means we can better address the pain point of parking by scaling our offering for customers worldwide.” The Board of Management is responsible for MINI, Rolls-Royce, BMW Motorrad, Customer Engagement and Digital Business Innovation BMW Group.

Since 2014, the BMW Group has had a minority stake in Parkmobile, which has 100 employees and is based in Atlanta. It provides parking services in 300 U.S. cities.

Parkmobile Group Europe, which includes the brand ParkNow, was purchased by BMW Group in 2016.

Overall, Parkmobile reaches more than 22 million drivers in North America and Europe and has parking solutions in 1,000 cities and is used via the Parkmobile mobile app.
