Ford Plans 100% Connected Cars By Next Year

Following its CES announcements, Ford Motor Company is increasing its mobility initiatives with a pair of acquisitions and some internal reorganization.

To speed the growth of its mobility services, the automaker announced it is acquiring Autonomic and TransLoc, companies involved in transportation technologies.

Ford has committed to 100% connectivity in all new vehicles in the U.S. by next year and 90% connectivity globally by the following year.

“We believe transportation done right, as part of a systems approach, can bring life back to our cities,” stated Marcy Klevorn, president, Ford Mobility. “By accelerating our delivery of mobility services through the changes we are making today, we are enabling that revival, enhancing our competitiveness and creating long-term value for Ford shareholders.”

Ford also announced the reorganization of the teams focused on mobility solutions, creating four separate groups.

The mission of the teams includes incubating new business models, supporting in-vehicle services and autonomous vehicle businesses, designing new technologies and driving consumer demand.

Didn't we just read a story this week, where Ford discovers the BUZZ moments of driving a Sports car?  (Although, they labeled a "Focus" as a sports car)  Compared to roller coaster etc?  Hmmmmm............self driving cars= Buzz-Kill

Don't you just love Corporate-Speak.  Seems they just can't resiist the urge to hit-the-ground-running to come up with seamless words to give that cascading effect, and as always..........at the end of the day.
