Bloomberg Media Names Julia Beizer Global Chief Product Officer

Former Oath executive Julia Beizer has been tapped as Bloomberg Media’s first global chief product officer.

Beizer will be responsible for “accelerating innovation across our digital product portfolio ... working with key stakeholders across the newsroom, media distribution, engineering and our commercial organization,” according to a memo to staff by Scott Havens, Bloomberg Media's global head of digital.

The company's digital teams will focus on six core themes “critical for our future” and digital strategy, Havens added. Those themes include data and personalization, connected devices, user experience, paid content, OTT video and international.

Bloomberg Media’s digital advertising revenue grew 26% last year, according to Havens, as did monthly unique user traffic. “More than 50% of our ad revenue now comes from digital,” he noted.

She previously spent 10 years at The Washington Post in both news and product capacities.

Havens also announced other promotions and hires at Bloomberg Media. Ambika Nigam will take on a newly expanded role as head of product innovation and growth. She will continue to lead strategy for connected devices and apps, as well as BHIVE, the company’s design and research team. Nigam will also oversee strategy regarding emerging platforms.

Selena Hsu has been appointed to as head of partnership operations within Digital and Media Distribution.

Separately, Scott Rosenfield was named digital general manager of Outside last week. Previously digital editorial director, Rosenfield helped the outdoors-focused magazine achieve a 365% traffic growth in the five years he has been at Outside, as well as achieve five consecutive years of 20%-plus revenue growth, per the company.
