Pepsi Unveils Retro SB Ad Celebrating Its History, Classic Campaigns

Pepsi, which earlier this month released a teaser video featuring its 1992 Super Bowl ad star, Cindy Crawford, today unveiled its full 30-second ad for this year’s Super Bowl.

The spot (below), narrated by Jimmy Fallon, also features stars from other past Pepsi campaigns, including Britney Spears, Michael Jackson, Jeff Gordon and Kyrie Irving’s “Uncle Drew” character — plus a glimpse of a Pepsi and the DeLorean time machine from “Back to the Future.”

As previously revealed by the brand, the spot — which will air just before the Pepsi Halftime Show starring Justin Timberlake — also includes Crawford’s 18-year-old son, Presley Gerber.

The ad, from Pepsi’s in-house creative team, is dubbed “This is The Pepsi.” It starts out with those words, accompanying retro visuals: “This is the Pepsi that your father drank, and his father drank before he met your grandmother…” and concludes with the tagline statement, “This is the Pepsi for every generation.”

Pepsi also released a 60-second version of the ad, to run on digital and the brand's social media platforms.

The Super Bowl ad kicks off a year-long, global Pepsi campaign, "Pepsi Generations," spanning Pepsi Zero Sugar and Diet Pepsi, as well as classic Pepsi. The campaign will run in 55 international markets.
