Amazon just agreed to acquire video doorbell maker Ring. Sources tell Reuters that the ecommerce giant plans to pay more than $1 billion on the deal. “Analysts see [the move] as a growing bet on
delivering packages inside of shoppers’ homes and on home security,” Reuters writes. More broadly, “The world’s largest online retailer believes that selling internet-connected
gadgets from Kindle e-readers to its new Cloud Cam will spark more shopping on Amazon.com.”
