OneTrust Launches GDPR Consent Tool

OneTrust, a UK firm that specializes in enterprise privacy management, has introduced a solution for helping firms comply with the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) that takes effect on May 25, as well as the ePrivacy Directive.

The new service, Universal Consent and Preference Management, enables firms to collect valid consent, whatever the channel. Valid consent consists of freely given, informed permission.

Getting consent is a challenge, given the plethora of channels, including email, web forms, mobile apps, paper forms and phone calls, the company says.

"Establishing and documenting the validity of consent is among the most widely discussed topics for marketers ahead of the impending overhaul of EU privacy laws," states OneTrust CEO Kabir Barday.

According to OneTrust, Universal Consent and Preference Management also allows companies to:

- integrate OneTrust into all existing consent collection points

- enable consumers with greater visibility and control with tailored preference centers

- centralize records to document compliance

OneTrust plans to develop additional features as “more guidance becomes available” on the new regulations, Barday says.
