Toshiba is planning a company-wide transformation of its business, starting with the addition of a chief digital officer to spearhead the company’s growth.

A new digital transformation strategy acceleration division is being created to develop strategies for Toshiba Group’s digital transformation, according to an announcement by the company.

The new division will act as an incubator for digitization of the group and its individual businesses and design an Internet of Things platform for group management. “It will promote a fundamental transformation of Toshiba into a group of companies able to maximize customer value through co-creation,” stated the announcement.

Toshiba will channel resources into reinforcing its IoT architecture with a focus on artificial intelligence and digital simulation. In parallel, a Toshiba subsidiary will develop and operate solutions that utilize IoT and AI and a new Toshiba Digital and Consulting practice will be established.
