Endeavor, the sports, media and entertainment holding company that owns WME, UFC and IMG, is buying the streaming video technology company NeuLion in an all-cash deal valued at $250 million.
NeuLion wil become a standalone subsidiary of Endeavor once the deal clears regulatory approval -- an event the companies say they expect in the second quarter of this year.
NeuLion specializes in providing streaming video and digital distribution technology to its clients, with a particular focus on professional sports leagues. Its client base includes the NFL, NBA, Univision, and the UFC, which will now become a corporate sibling.
Endeavor, which was formerly called WME-IMG, has expanded from its talent agency and marketing roots to invest more directly in content, particularly in live events. The company owns Professional Bull Riders, the Miss Universe pageant and the ad agency Droga5.
