VR, AR Gaming Jobs Up 93%

Virtual and augmented reality jobs are on the rise, based on a new study.

The number of gaming job postings requiring VR or AR skills has risen 93% since 2015, with 17% of the growth in the past year, according to the study by the job site Indeed.com.

The top cities for VR and AR gaming jobs are New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, San Jose and Atlanta. The top three cities are home to major gaming companies.

Job postings relating to eSports increased 18% since last year and 57% since 2015, according to Indeed. While VR and eSports jobs are going strong, there are some declines in the more general categories with game tester positions dropping 30% since 2015 and postings for developers and engineers dropping by more than a third (36%) during that same time period.

Searches for VR and AR talent declined slightly (1%) since last year, overall searches are up by 81% since 2015.
