Maytag is drumming up hype to support May as Maytag Month by introducing a social-media digital adventure hunt awarding free appliances. Memorial Day may be the most popular time of year to shop for appliances, though the appliance brand reveals its deals starting May 3.
The first-of-its-kind promotion is developed with SapientRazorfish, Digitas, Aisle Rocket Studios, Ketchum PR and Marketing Associates.
The “Power Delivered” campaign is deploying four trucks filled with Maytag merchandise across America through May 2. Maytag will release clues online of the locations of these trucks via Maytag.com/PowerDelivered so players can pinpoint where they think they’re stationed.
Each truck has its own timeframe. Players are able to browse the area on the live Power Delivered page and can drag a 360-degree image to view a truck's surroundings. For instance, truck No. 1's clue reads: “About 1,860 miles from Maytag HQ in Michigan.”
Players then drag the pin to the spot on the map where they think the truck is located and click “Submit Location.” Once prompted, they enter their email and hit submit for a chance to win one of three prizes.
One first-place winner will win a Maytag Suite for laundry and kitchen, one second-place winner will receive a Maytag laundry set of washer and dryer, and one third-place winner will receive a Maytag kitchen appliance of his or her choice.
