Deutsch Enlists Hollywood Star Power In First Campaign For New Ticketing App

Watch out Fandango -- Atom Tickets, the two-year old major studio-backed ticketing/social app, wants to eat your lunch.

Well, OK, you probably knew that -- no secret there. But now Atom is getting serious about its marketing efforts.

Today, the venture is launching its first national brand campaign, which is being orchestrated by its agency Deutsch.

Just in time for the summer movie season, Atom and Deutsch have unveiled a national TV spot featuring actress Anna Faris (“My Super Ex-Girlfriend,” “Hot Chick”) and directed by filmmaker Peter Berg (“Patriot’s Day,” “Deepwater Horizon”).

In the commercial titled “Anna’s Night Out,” movie fanatic Faris initiates a night at the movies with some pals. Using the app, she picks the movie, invites her friends, selects preferred seats and pre-orders a tub of popcorn, while paying homage to memorable movie moments.

The three I spotted were definitely memorable; I won’t spoil the fun but check out the funny spot to see if I missed any.

The campaign will span TV, Cinema, Radio, Digital, and OOH, including a cinema buy with NCM and Screenvision to reach core moviegoers. Digital buys include Hulu and YouTube. ESPN and PopSugar are also on board as is iHeartRadio.

The app has some serious Hollywood firepower behind it including investors Lionsgate, Disney, and Twentieth Century Fox Film, as well as Wall Street powerhouse Fidelity.

Atom also has a star-studded advisory board that includes Steven Spielberg, J.J. Abrams, Tyler Perry, Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia.
