Fitbit Ships 1 Million New Smartwatches In Under 2 Months

Wearable brand maker Fitbit has shipped more than 1 million Fitbit Versa devices since its general availability and its new female health tracking feature has already been used by more than 2 million users, the company announced.

The health and fitness smartwatch, which sells for $200, which went on sale on April 16, has a four-day battery life and includes phone-free music and wallet-free payments.

Overall shipments of wearable bands grew 35% to 21 million units in the first quarter of this year, according to the latest research from Canalys. Smartwatches now make up about a quarter (24%) of Fitbit’s band shipments.

The female health tracking feature seems to be catching on, with more than 1 million users tapping into it within the first two weeks of its introduction.

“The positive response to Versa shows that we are filling this void and well positions us to gain share of the fast-growing smartwatch market,” stated James Park, co-founder and CEO of Fitbit. “The engagement we’ve seen with our new female health tracking feature further demonstrates the value our users see in being able to get a more comprehensive look at their overall health and wellness, in a single place, in a way that other available cycle tracking tools cannot.”
