Davler Media Acquires 'Staten Island Parent,' Extends Family-Oriented Coverage

Davler Media Group has acquired Staten Island Parent, joining its portfolio of publications for New York-area parents, visitors and the LGBTQ community. The monthly has a circulation of 30,000.

The 30-year-old Staten Island Parent will become a part of Davler’s NYMetroParents division. The division was established in 2006 with the purchase of four local parenting magazines: Big Apple Parent, Brooklyn Parent, Queens Parent and Westchester Parent.

Davler believes the acquisition solidifies the media company's role to help "parents and families, and the advertisers that want to connect with them,” stated David L. Miller, CEO of Davler Media Group. “We have had a long-running relationship with the Staten Island Parent team, working to cross-sell advertising and other marketing opportunities,” Miller added.

Founding publisher and editor-in-chief Roselle Farina-Hecht will remain in her position. Most of Staten Island Parent’s staff will continue at the publication, too, Miller stated.

“Staten Island has been experiencing growth in many areas, which has increased the need for the parenting community to be kept informed, updated and connected,” Farina-Hecht noted.

Davler's network now includes eight regional monthly magazines and five digital properties, including NYMetroParents.com, the newborn and toddler-focused Mommybites and event planning hub Mitzvah Market.

It also hosts 20 live events each year. The company claims it reaches over 1 million tristate area families each month.

In March, Davler Media Group bought Metrosource, the second-largest LGBTQ publication in the U.S. Later that year, it launched Exuberance, an LGBTQ-focused spinoff of the publisher’s luxury design and lifestyle title New York Spaces.
