'Sharknado' Shark Fighters Save The World, And Summer TV Too

Every summer at this time, it is the sworn goal of the TV Blog to somehow get quoted in Syfy’s promo spots for its annual “Sharknado” movie.

This summer’s installment is “Sharknado 6” (if you can believe it) -- subtitled “The Last Sharknado: It's About Time.” It premieres this coming Sunday night (August 19).

Whether or not this will really be the last “Sharknado” movie remains to be seen. The other half of the title -- “It’s About Time” -- refers to this year's main plot line, which has the sharknado fighters traveling back in time to battle tornado-borne sharks throughout history, including prehistory, the late 1300s in England, the American Revolution, the Old West of the 19th century and a southern California beach in the early ’60s.

All of the principal stars are back -- Ian Ziering (seen riding a giant shark in the photo above), Tara Reid, Vivica A. Fox, Cassandra Scerbo and Judah Friedlander. And they are joined as usual by a bevy of surprise guests in a variety of offbeat roles.

Actually reviewing this movie is unnecessary because it is obviously awesome. You might even say that “Sharknado 6” is: “The feel-good shark-tornado movie of the year!”

Attention, Syfy promotion department: Please feel free to use the above quote in your ads and if you do, please sign it: Adam Buckman, MediaPost.com, or just MediaPost.com will do just fine. Here are nine more tantalizing options for your consideration:

“Syfy's time travelin’ sharknado fighters’ message for their finned foes: You're history!”

“What makes ‘Sharknado 6’ succeed? It's the science!”

“Possibly the best special effects of airborne shark attacks you'll see on TV Sunday night between the hours of 8 and 10 Eastern on basic cable.”

’Who you gonna call? Shark busters!”

“ ‘Sharknado 6’: Could it happen here? Sure, why not!”

“In ‘Sharknado 6,’ the legend becomes myth … a universal survival story for the ages.”

“The critics agree: It's a TV movie!”

“Only Syfy would have the guts to make this series of ‘Sharknado’ movies. In any case, no one else has ever attempted it.”

“ ‘Sharknado 6’: The best ‘Sharknado’ movie since last summer!”

You can thank me later.

“Sharknado 6: The Last Sharknado: It’s About Time” airs Sunday (August 19) at 8 p.m. Eastern on Syfy.
