'Travel + Leisure' Editor In Chief Nathan Lump To Step Down

Nathan Lump, the editor in chief of Meredith-owned travel title Travel + Leisure, will leave "some time after closing the December issue of the magazine," according to the company.

“While it's always a tough decision to leave a job and a brand that you love -- and it has been a dream to lead T+L -- now feels like the right time for me to stretch myself professionally in new ways,” Lump stated.

In his four-year tenure helming Travel + Leisure, Lump modernized the brand's print product and grew its digital presence, according to a memo from Stephen Orr, vice president and group editorial director at Meredith, sent today.

The 47-year-old magazine has 55% advertising share of market in the category (which includes Condé Nast Traveler and National Geographic Traveler, according to Orr).

In four years, the Travel + Leisure site has grown 400%, to nearly 10 million monthly uniques.

The brand “is on target to produce more than 1,000 pieces of original video content this year,” Orr added.

Lump, who was also named editorial director of Departures, Food & Wine and Cooking Light over a year ago (positions he will also vacate), will work with Orr to find his successor.
