GroupM Taps Omnicom, Yahoo Veteran For Global Trading Post

WPP media investment group GroupM has appointed Marc Bignell global head of trading. He is based in London and reports to chief investment officer Nick Theakstone, who was named GroupM’s global chief investment officer in January.

Bignell succeeds Johan Boserup, who returned to Omnicom to take on a similar role last month.

GroupM said that Bignell, a nearly 30-year industry veteran, is tasked with developing innovative trading solutions that boost performance for advertisers as more channels become addressable and biddable.

Previously, Bignell was chief commercial officer at Miroma, a private company with a portfolio of media and technology companies. Before that he was Yahoo’s vice president for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Earlier, he spent more than 20 years with Omnicom Media Group, most recently as worldwide chief investment officer.

“Marc has a track record of delivering creative commercial solutions to advertisers and media partners alike,” stated Theakstone. “With many advertisers facing low growth markets, increased competition, and digital disruption, our agencies must deliver more value and greater efficiency for clients. This will be Marc’s focus.”
