Startup Offers Anti-Phishing Email Service

INKY, an email protection startup, is offering a anti-phishing service that it says will help firms block forged emails, spear phishing and extortion attacks.

The Rockville, MD-based company has raised $5.6 million in Series A funding led by ClearSky Security, Gula Tech Adventures and Blackstone. It was co-founded by Dave Baggett, CEO, and Simon Smith, COO.

The new product, INKY Phish Fence, is driven by an anomaly detection algorithm, and uses that capability to alert company employees of suspicious emails with warning banners, the firm adds.

The company says it has done research showing that  41.57% of phishing emails pass DKIM, 37.93% through DMARC and 59.25% through SPF.

"Phishing is the top attack vector in today's threat landscape as criminals can easily access phishing toolkits on the Dark Web,” says Mark Bowker, senior analyst, ESG.
