Chevrolet CMO Tim Mahoney To Retire

Chevrolet CMO Tim Mahoney is leaving General Motors.

An internal communication was sent to Chevrolet employees Thursday afternoon announcing that Mahoney is retiring March 1.

In addition to serving as CMO of Global Chevrolet, Mahoney is leader of GM's global marketing operations.

As Chevrolet CMO, Mahoney led the globalization of the brand for GM in more than 100 countries under the north star of “Find New Roads.” 

“We thank Tim for his many contributions to strengthening the position of the Chevrolet brand around the world and for the expertise that he has brought to our marketing operations,” said Alan Batey, GM executive vice president, president of GM North America, and head of Global Chevrolet in the email obtained by Marketing Daily. “We wish Tim and his family well in this next chapter of their lives.”

With more than 35 years of marketing experience and accomplishments, Mahoney has successfully led and managed teams across all aspects of marketing from product planning/marketing, research and strategy to communications, digital and CRM.

He has worked on a variety of other global brands in sales and marketing leadership roles including Sara Lee, Subaru, Porsche, and Volkswagen.

Mahoney was recognized by Forbes Magazine as the third most influential CMO in the world and was named Automotive Marketer of the Year by MediaPost.
