Former Fox Executive Earley To Head Marketing, Operations For Disney+

Former Fox senior executive Joe Earley has been appointed to a senior position at Disney’s new direct-to-consumer site, Disney+.

Earley will have the title of executive vice president, marketing and operations for Disney+, reporting to Ricky Strauss, president, content & marketing, Disney+.

Earley will work closely with Disney Streaming Services’ Customer Acquisition marketing group, as well as overseeing operations related to programming for the service.

This includes Disney’s in-house unit groups -- The Walt Disney Studios, Disney-ABC Television Group, Pixar Animation, Marvel Entertainment, and Lucasfilm -- as well as external third-party production entities.

Disney+ streaming service for movies and TV shows is scheduled to launch in late 2019 in the U.S.

Earley comes to Disney from The Jackal Group, a production company, where he was president, overseeing all areas of the studio's television, film, commercial theater and digital divisions.  

Before that, Earley was a longtime Fox executive, most recently COO for Fox Television Group, overseeing marketing and communications, digital, research, talent relations, scheduling and audience strategy at Fox Broadcasting.

Earley also held the post of president of marketing and communications at Fox. He started with Fox as a senior publicist in 1994.  Prior to Fox, he worked in public relations at HBO.
