'Hideaway Report' Reveals Editors' Top Travel Picks

Travel brand Hideaway Report has released its editors’ annual top travel picks.

Nihi Sumba, a beach resort on Sumba Island in Indonesia, was named the 2019 “Hideaway of the Year.”

Hideaway Report provides travel editorial reviews and recommendations of hideaways and experiences around the world. Content from the nearly 40-year-old brand is exclusive to subscribers.

The January issue of Hideaway Report spotlights winners of the top award categories, including Best Hotels, Best Hotel Restaurant, Hospitality Awards, Best Amenities and Best Travel Experiences, among others.

Formerly known as the Grand Awards, the 2019 Editors' Choice Awards will continue to be announced throughout the month.

Hideaway Report editors travel anonymously and pay full rate for all travel-related expenses, to ensure independent reviews.

In 2018, Hideaway Report editors visited 27 countries and stayed in 112 hotels.

(To be considered for the Editors’ Choice Awards, properties must be relatively small in size, unique and provide stellar service. Hotels must also have been reviewed in a 2018 edition of the monthly Hideaway Report.)

The awards also give special recognition to Restaurants of the Year, Best Bar, Most Unique Luxury Amenity and Most Memorable Wine Tastings.

Last year, Andrew Harper magazinereturned to its original Hideaway Report name, which "better reflects editorial focus on hideaway hotels and travel experiences," according to parent Andrew Harper LLC.

Some 90% of Hideaway Report's revenue comes from subscriptions. The rest is affiliate revenue from partnerships with travel and wine companies.

In the fall of 2018, the brand had about 16,000 print and digital subscribers in total.
