OKD Marketing Acquires MJM Media

OKD Marketing is acquiring MJM Media to strengthen the Canadian-based ad agency's content creation capabilities.

Established in 1982, the 11-person MJM specializes in audio and production services.

“Our clients told us they wanted to work with an agency team that can handle everything from strategy and execution to creative concepts and production,” says Brent Clifford, managing partner, OKD Marketing, adding that the deal enables the agency to "meet the evolving needs of clients" and "further establish ourselves" as one of Ontario Canada's leading full-service agencies.

Under the deal, MJM will continue to operate as a separate business. It will also remain in its Hamilton, Ontario facility.

The two shops are familiar with one another, having worked together on projects for the past 20 years, explains Clifford. The previous owners of MJM approached OKD about an acquisition, although he says MJM had approached other potential buyers as well. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

This acquisition is part of OKD's growth strategy. Two years ago, OKD launched OKD Brand Engagement. This was followed by the opening of a Calgary office in 2018. The now 60-person agency serves more than 100 clients, generating $20 million in billings.
