Iberia Airlines Launching Virtual Reality For Passengers

Iberia Airlines is adding virtual reality in some of its planes.

Following a trial period, second-generation Pico VR headsets will be available to passengers on flights between New York and Madrid and on the daily Madrid to Tel Aviv flight.

The headsets, which enable viewers to experience three-dimensional content in films, games and documentaries, will be made available for rent during flights.

“Since 2017, we’ve been working to develop a VR solution that can offer a new experience to our customers,” states Ignacio Toval, Iberia’s digital transformation director.

“An important aspect of Iberia’s digital transformation push lies in the incorporation of new technologies and digital innovation during the entire travel experience, from the moment they think about buying a ticket to arrival at the destination,” Toval adds.

Iberia entered into a six-month trial agreement with Infight VR, which specializes in virtual reality for the travel industry.
