Empower Finishes First In Bid To Be Media AOR For Brooks Running

Brooks Running Company has selected Cincinnati-based Empower to be its new media agency of record.

Under its remit the agency will lead all integrated media planning and buying efforts, including advanced data and analytics.

Brooks Running, The Seattle-based subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., sells footwear, apparel, sports bras and accessories in more than 50 countries worldwide.  Last month it selected Interpublic’s Huge as creative AOR. The company spent just under $2.5 million on measured media in the U.S. last year according to Kantar Media.

For media Brooks had previously worked with OMD.

Austin Simms, vice president of marketing at Brooks, stated, “After meeting with the team at Empower, we experienced first-hand their commitment to transparency, client service and data-driven approach to connecting with runners which will be critical as we pursue our goal of becoming the Number one brand for all who run.”

Empower has gotten off to a fast start this month in the new business department. A week ago it was selected as media AOR for health and supplement retailer GNC Corp.

“Like Brooks, we believe running can be transformative,” said Empower CEO Jim Price. “Health and wellness are central to our company; we even have our very own gym.”

And Price is putting it to good use as he is training for his first marathon.
