Mueller Report Challenges TV Ad Creatives - And Fox News

If you think Fox News Channel has just one point of view when it comes to the Trump Administration, there’s one TV ad -- which ran on Fox, according to one report -- that might spin your perceptions.

The TV commercial from the group called Republicans for the Rule of Law had a Fox News anchor and two conservative commentators revealing that the Mueller Report wasn’t good for President Trump.

“Robert Mueller’s report does not clear President Trump of obstruction of justice,” say Fox News anchor Shepard Smith. Retired Judge Andrew Napolitanto added: “It did show a venal, amoral, deceptive Donald Trump, instructing his aides to lie. That’s not good.”

In a sound bite in the ad, President Trump says of the report: “There was no obstruction. It was a complete and total exoneration.” Nope. Not according to many TV news programs, historians, lawyers, political commentators and even Fox News.

What wasn’t in the ad? Any sound bites from Fox prime-time hosts -- those opinionated personalities who, despite evidence, refused to assign the Mueller Report any credence.

Separate from Fox's prime-time shows, Fox daytime programming is a different animal -- more straightforward news programming --- even according to some inside Fox News.

Conservative political commentator and editor Bill Kristol tweeted on April 19: “Republicans for the Rule of Law has purchased time for this ad on 'Fox and Friends' Monday morning. I trust you, along with many Fox fans, will enjoy it.”

Republicans for the Rule of Law says it is a group of lifelong Republicans dedicated to defending the institutions of our republic and upholding the rule of law.

A more recent ad from the group ad shows black-and-white video clips of silent senior Republican congressmen. Then the message: “Republicans: Your silence is deafening. Our President attempted to obstruct justice.”

All this isn’t looking to stop. Perhaps just a TV messaging battle to come.

What about the other side? Yes, I’m just waiting for a competing -- and timely -- TV commercial to appear on MSNBC about Hillary’s emails. So newsy!
