FuboTV Taps Flatley To Lead Ad Sales

The streaming virtual multichannel video provider (vMVPD) FuboTV has tapped Chris Flatley to serve as its vice president of ad sales.

In his new role, Flatley will be tasked with growing the company’s programmatic, sponsorship and direct sales ad business.

He joins FuboTV from Dish’s Sling TV, where he was on the team leading the company’s direct and programmatic ad sales efforts. At Fubo, he will report to Chief Strategy Officer Hannah Brown.

Streaming vMVPDs such as FuboTV offer many of the same channels as traditional pay-TV bundles, but delivered over the internet.

Over the past year or so, the prices for these bundles have risen as more channels get added to the bundle. In turn, these companies are betting on advanced advertising strategies to help make up for the higher costs.

“A dual revenue model — advertising and subscriptions — will propel virtual MVPDs like FuboTV to profitability, and growing the advertising business is a priority for FuboTV this year,” Brown says.

FuboTV says it beat Hulu with Live TV and YouTube TV to market when it launched dynamic ad insertion in January 2018. It is planning additional advanced advertising efforts over the coming months.
