Amazon Adding L'Oreal's AR For Virtual Makeup

Loreal’s augmented reality platform is expanding to Amazon to provide customers with virtual try-ons for cosmetics.

The technology from Modiface, which L’Oréal acquired, uses artificial intelligence and augmented reality in combination with a user’s front-facing camera on their phone.

The Modiface technology runs on Amazon Web Services.

“Thanks to a precise color rendering, enabled by our unique AI-powered technology, shoppers can easily try-on thousands of lipsticks available on Amazon and purchase the shades that fit them best,” states Parham Aarabi, CEO of ModiFace.

Amazon shoppers will be enabled to digitally try on different shades of lipstick in a live video of themselves or via a selfie, according to L’Oréal.
