“Outside Unpacked,” the brand's
audio extension, is a roundup of key outdoor news.
It focuses on “breaking stories about the climate crisis, the latest in outdoor sports, the need-to-know about public lands, and more,” stated Madeleine LaPlante-Dube, digital media producer, Outside.
The show is available on the Alexa app, Google Home and Assistant and across various podcast platforms, such as Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Google Play.
Outside Unpacked is partnering with production company SpokenLayer.
Jeremy Rellosa, assistant editor, Outside, added that expanding content to smart speakers lets audiences “decide which platform best fits their lifestyle.”
“Unpacked” debuts three years after the magazine launched its podcast.
The Outside podcast includes three series: the “Science of Survival,” focused on stories about human endurance in extreme situations, “The Outside Interview,” hosted by the magazine’s editor Christopher Keyes, showcasing figures from the sports, adventure and politics, and “Dispatches,” a news show.
