Citing Creative And Client Pressures, Publicis Reorganizes U.S. Leadership Team

In a broad restructuring of its U.S. operations, Publicis Groupe is unveiling two new leadership teams as the company further develops its broader Power of One strategy and responds to various client marketplace pressures.

The new U.S. ComEx team is largely driven by the recently closed Epsilon acquisition in order to help integrate the Groupe's data, creativity and technology practices.

The team is chaired by Arthur Sadoun, Chairman-CEO, Publicis Groupe, and includes the newly added Bryan Kennedy, CEO, Epsilon as well as Tim Jones, CEO, Publicis Media Americas; Ros King, the Groupe’s executive vice president, global clients, Steve King, COO, Publicis Groupe & CEO, Publicis Media; Adrian Sayliss, CFO, Publicis Groupe North America; Carla Serrano, the Groupe’s Chief Strategy Officer; Liz Taylor, Chief Creative Officer, Publicis Communications US-CCO, Leo Burnett Worldwide; and Nigel Vaz, CEO, Publicis Sapient.

"With this new U.S. leadership team in place, we will bring to our clients what they really need: personalized experiences at scale, to enable them to leapfrog the competition," stated Sadoun. Clients “are feeling pressure from ecommerce platforms, walled gardens and fierce competition from D2C brands.”

In addition, the Groupe is organizing its creative brand portfolio into three geographic zones rather than isolate their power within specific agencies.

Under this rejiggering, Andrew Bruce becomes CEO, Publicis Communications West, while Andrew Swinand will oversee the middle region of the country as CEO, Publicis Communications Center. Jem Ripley returns to Publicis Groupe as Publicis Communications East CEO.

Ripley will also lead Publicis Sapient’s marketing transformation business and clients in the U.S.

Ripley's return comes after the Groupe's global creative lead Nick Law recently announced he is leaving for Apple, resulting in a broader rethinking of the Groupe's creative structure.

Previously, Ripley served as a senior manager at SapientRazorfish for a decade before moving to Capgemini to run its digital transformation business for North America.

Bruce, Ripley and Swinand will report to Sadoun.
