Barracuda Buys Bot Detection Tech From InfiSecure

Security firm Barracuda has acquired bot mitigation technology from InfiSecure, the company announced on Tuesday.

Terms of the tech acquisition were not clear at deadline.

Barracuda plans to deploy the technology to identify and block advanced bots, also using data points from its own Threat Intelligence Infrastructure.

The firm contends that generic bot detection methods fail to address specific bots written for different applications.

It adds that low-and-slow bots -- those that request data slowly while rotating IP addresses -- can be detected only with special tools.

The InfiSecure technology “complements our recently released Advanced Bot Protection,” states Tim Jefferson, SVP, engineering of data protection, network and application security, Barracuda Networks.
