Amazon says it has an industry-leading safety and compliance program. That statement was made in reaction to a recent
Wall Street Journal article on an investigation revealing that more than
4,000 items for sale on Amazon, many of them provided by third-party sellers, have been declared unsafe or banned by federal agencies, or feature misleading labeling. Amazon has removed or changed
more than 2,000 of the listings since the article was first posted, according to the
WSJ.
