'National Geographic Traveler' Ceases Publishing This Year

National Geographic Traveler will stop publishing the U.S. edition of the magazine after the December/January issue.

Content from 35-year-old bimonthly publication will be folded into the flagship National Geographic magazine, which will continue to be available in print in the U.S., according to Variety, which first reported the news.

A National Geographic spokesperson told Publishers Daily the magazine brand will lean into travel content on its digital platforms, develop travel content for National Geographic magazine, publish travel-themed special issues and support the other 17 local language editions of National Geographic Traveler magazine.

Variety reports as many as 80 National Geographic employees could be affected by the changes.
