Charter Spectrum Adds AMC's SVOD And Premiere Services

Charter Communications’s Spectrum is adding AMC Networks’ full suite of subscription video-on-demand services and AMC Premiere, the ad-free version of the AMC channel.

In addition to Premiere, the new AMC choices include Acorn TV, Shudder, Sundance Now and UMC.

The services will become available on most Spectrum set-top boxes “in the coming months,” according to AMC.

The launch is part of a recent broader long-term agreement between the two companies that includes continued carriage of AMC Networks’ AMC, BBC America, IFC, SundanceTV, We TV and BBC World News linear television networks, and an extension of a previously announced co-production agreement.

AMC Networks shows include “Killing Eve” (AMC Premiere), “Doc Martin” (Acorn), “Creepshow” (Shudder), “State of the Union” (Sundance Now) and “Craig Ross Jr.’s Monogamy” (UMC).

The deal announcement came on the same day that AMC reported declines in advertising, subscriptions and affiliate/subscription revenues.

A 2 million overall increase in SVOD subscribers for the year was among the few positive notes in the quarterly results.
