Altice Loses 32K Video Subscribers in Q3, Revenue Up 1%

Altice USA reported a net loss of 32,000 video subscribers in the third quarter.

When the impact of suspended gross additions during the migration of its Suddenlink customers in the Midwest to a new Operating Support System/Billing Services System is taken into account, the loss is 28,000, the company noted.

That’s the same number of subscribers lost in last year’s third quarter, and a relatively positive showing in comparison with the losses being seen at some of its competitors.

Altice USA’s broadband customers increased by 15,000, versus a 14,000 gain in Q3 2018.

The number of customers moving to the new Altice One platform reached 492,000, or 15% of total video customers. That’s up from just 7% in Q3 2018.

The company’s total revenue edged up 1% in the period, to $2.44 billion, driven by 0.5% growth in residential revenue and 3.9% growth in business services revenue.

Adjusted EBITDA was flat, at $1.07 billion.

“In the third quarter, Altice USA made significant progress against our strategic growth initiatives, including the launch of Altice Mobile, further adoption of Altice One, completion of the Suddenlink and Optimum integration through the BSS/OSS transformation, capital structure simplification, and ongoing construction of our fiber to the home network,” CEO Dexter Goei said in a statement.

The company’s increased investments in its networks, products and customer experience are paying off in “strong underlying customer trends,” Goei added.
