'GQ' Promotes Geoff Gagnon To Executive Editor

GQarticles editor Geoff Gagnon has a new title. He has been upped to executive editor.

Gagnon, who has been with the magazine since 2014, will oversee editorial execution of all GQ's “most ambitious” features cross-platform, according to Condé Nast.

He will also continue to edit features, while spearheading packages and specialty issues.

While there have been executive editors in the past at GQ, Gagnon will be the first one since Will Welch became editor-in-chief last September.

"This is an enormous task, of course, but Geoff has proven he is up for it," Welch stated.

The GQ team can think of Gagnon as "the official top of editor of... everything,” Welch added. “He will be going after new voices, helping me get every story assigned to the smartest writer, and setting the bar for excellence when it comes to GQ storytelling."

This year, Welch has focused on transitioning GQ’s “style service” and “how-to” content to the brand’s digital arm.

GQ devoted its “Summer Beach Reads” June/July issue to long-form stories, a first for the men's lifestyle magazine.
