Front, Email Work Platform, Pulls In $59 Million In Series C Funding

Front, a firm that provides software for organizing company email inboxes, has raised $59 million in Series C funding.

The financing round was led by several tech executives, including Mike Cannon-Brookes, co-CEO and co-founder of Atlassian; Jay Simons, president of Atlassian; Frederic Kerrest, executive vice chairman, COO and co-founder of Okta; Ryan Smith, co-founder and CEO of Qualtrics; Jared Smith, co-founder and CTO of Qualtrics; and Eric Yuan, CEO of Zoom.

Also participating are Sequoia Capital, Initialized Capital, Anthos Capital and other existing investors.

The financing quadruples Front’s previous valuation, the firm says. It will be used to drive product development and scale go-to-market functions.

With Front, emails, texts, direct messages and other communications are centralized in one place, the company says. Business workers can use the resources and systems to prioritize work and communications, it adds.

Front says that traditional email clients like Gmail and Outlook were designed for consumers, not for teams or businesses.

“The way we use email for business has been stuck at a standstill for the last twenty years, while every other system and workflow has evolved and improved in time,” says Yuan.

Front serves over 5,500 businesses including MailChimp, Shopify and Stripe, it says.
