Leanplum Raises $27 Million, Names New CEO And CFO

Customer engagement platform Leanplum has raised $27 million in an extension of its Series D growth round and it has new leadership.

George Garrick has been named as president and CEO, and Sheri Huston as chief financial officer.  Momchil Kyurkchiev, co-founder of Leanplum and now former CEO, will become chief product officer.

In addition, Russ Fradin, chairman of Dynamic Signal, will join the board of directors.

Last year, the company had named Kate FitzGerald as president.

The new funding was led by Norwest Venture Partners and Shasta Ventures, with Kleiner Perkins, Canaan and LAUNCHub also participating. The company has received over $125 million in financing to date from Silicon Valley venture capital firms.

The new funding will be used to drive product development and go-to-market efforts.

Garrick has served as CEO of IRI and A.C. Nielsen, and of a number of venture-backed growth companies in Silicon Valley.

"George is the right leader for Leanplum," Kyurkchiev states. "His strong management experience with companies at our stage and in our domain will be essential for Leanplum as we continue to drive growth and expand globally."

Garrick argues that with the growth of mobile apps and devices, “it's imperative that brands use powerful and coordinated multi-channel engagement tools to connect with their customers at all times and through all digital channels," Garrick states.

The company, founded in San Francisco, has offices across North America, Europe, and Asia. It claims to have enabled over 150 billion multi-channel messages over the past year.
