Vox Media Names Margaret Chu CFO

Vox Media named Margaret Chu its Chief Financial Officer today, “as the company charts a course of continued growth and expansion following its 2019 merger with New York Media,” the company stated.

This is the first major appointment since Vox Media acquired New York Media last fall

The combined portfolio now includes Curbed, The Cut, Eater, Grub Street, Intelligencer, New York, Polygon, Recode, SB Nation, The Strategist, The Verge, Vox and Vulture, reaching hundreds of millions of readers and viewers.

Chu begins her new role at Vox Media on March 2.

“Margaret Chu is the ideal CFO for Vox Media at a high-growth moment when we are diversifying our business and taking big swings,” stated Vox Media chairman-CEO Jim Bankoff.

Most recently, Chu was executive vice president, corporate strategy and development at Horizon Media, where she oversaw the company’s business and legal affairs group.

She also led corporate strategy and development, including corporate investments, mergers and acquisitions and new business and partnership launches.

Chu previously served as CFO of RSE Ventures and as a board observer or director at Momofuku, Milk Bar, Legendary Entertainment and TransDigm Group.
