Digital Download Revenues Surge In First Half '05

  • October 4, 2005
Revenues from digital downloads in the United States during the first half of this year soared to $197.8 million -- an increase of 170 percent from the $73.3 million in revenues from the first half of 2004 -- according to statistics released Monday by the Recording Industry Association of America. That increase, however, was less than the approximately $266 million lost by the industry in sales of hard copies; revenues from sales of CDs, cassettes and the like, by 5.3 percent to around $4.79 billion from $5.05 billion.
