Condé Nast has named Ben French vice president, consumer product, working specifically for The New Yorker. He is charged with executing the magazine’s digital-growth strategy.
His new role begins March 9.
In a memo to staff, editor David Remnick wrote French would be “focused on editorial products and revenue streams, with the goal of enhancing the user experience and enjoyment of our journalism, our storytelling, and all of our editorial offerings.” His aim is to expand the publication's subscription base.
Previously, French spent eight years at The New York Times in
product-management and strategy capacities. His most recent posts were senior vice president, discovery and senior vice president, reader experience.French also served as the product lead for
NYT Now, the newspaper's mobile-first news app, and led the acquisition of Wirecutter.
Separately, Condé Nast also named Cory Sealey director of business development for The Talent Group, which teams celebrities and influencers with editorial and branded content across the company’s portfolio.
Before this, Sealey worked with Chanel as group director for its in-house marketing team. He was also head of partnerships for Edelman Public Relations in London; clients included Unilever, ASICS, Gap and Heineken.
On the content front, Condé Nast announced Tuesday it is launching “Home/Made x Condé Nast,” packaging its home-related video series across its brands as an opportunity for advertisers to reach millennial "home-doers."
