Former NBCU Exec Wilson To Head Up All Of Cox Media Group's Ad Businesses

Ed Wilson, former Fox, Tribune, and NBCUniversal senior executive, has been named executive chairman of Cox Media Group’s national ad businesses -- CoxReps, its TV station ad sales group and Gamut, its OTT advertising sales unit.

This comes amidst more changes at Cox Media Group, which was acquired by Apollo Global Management last year.

Financial terms of that deal were not disclosed, but estimates say the deal had a value of about $3 billion.

Ann Hailer, chief operating officer of CoxReps, and Soo Jin Oh, senior vice president of clients solutions at Gamut, will report to Wilson.

CoxReps is the local TV advertising sales group for Cox Media Group main assets that include 33 TV stations in 20 markets. Gamut, which helps advertisers target local OTT audiences, and can scale deals nationally, and has over 5,000 OTT platforms partnerships.

Previously he was president of the Fox Television Network and chief executive officer of Tribune Broadcasting. Wilson also headed up two different network-owned syndicated television businesses as president of NBC Enterprises, and president of CBS Enterprises.

Last month, Cox Media Group announced that it was disbanding Videa, its five-year-old automated advertising local TV sales business. The company said at the time: “It is no longer sustainable to continue operations.”
