Snapchat Accelerates Debut Of Mental Health Initiative

Snapchat is accelerating the timeline of the platform’s new feature Here For You, designed to match Snapchatters with resources from expert local partners when they search certain topics related to mental health, like depression, anxiety and stress.

Snapchat originally announced this initiative in early February with a projected follow-up release of corporate partners when the tool became available in early April.

In light of the anxiety and stress people are experiencing with the onset of COVID-19, Snapchat is now set the launch the effort next week across seven countries.

Partners include:  Active Minds, Because of You, Crisis Text Line and Seize the Awkward in the U.S. and Young Minds, The Samaritans and Diana Award in the U.K.

In addition, Snapchat is building out a customized search section of Here For You related to COVID-19 that will provide users with content from the Ad Council, World Health Organization, the CDC, Crisis Text Line, NHS, among others.

One particular focus for this informational tool is to prevent the spread of misinformation. The platform’s guidelines prohibit Snapchatters and corporate partners from sharing content that deceives or deliberately spreads false information that causes harm.
