Nielsen//NetRatings: Search Activity Jumps In August

Web users conducted more than 5.04 billion searches across more than 65 search engines during the month of August--a 10 percent rise from the 4.6 billion searches conducted in July--according to data released by Nielsen//NetRatings on Thursday. What's more, the average Web searcher conducted nearly 42 searches during August 2005--a 7 percent increase from the prior month. Nielsen//NetRatings also reported that Google Search continued its lead over all other engines, with 46 percent of all searches in August. It was followed by Yahoo! Search at 23 percent, and MSN Search at 11 percent. AOL Search pulled 8 percent of all searches in August, while Ask Jeeves Search received just 2 percent.
