Here’s an effort from a conservative group that deserves attention.
It’s a video from the Lincoln Project — dedicated to defeating Trump in November. It is called “War Zone” and it challenges the Trump regime and its response to the social-justice protest movement that ignited after the George Floyd killing in police custody two weeks ago.
The one-minute video shows the chaos that unfolded in Washington, D.C., on Monday after Trump ordered peaceful demonstrators dispersed by troops using tear gas, rubber bullets and good old-fashioned Billy clubs — just so he could get a photo op in front of a church with a bible in his hand.
“Washington, D.C. was transformed into a war zone for this coward,” was the harsh and accurate indictment of the narrator as an image of a bible-toting Trump flashed on the screen. “This is a time for choosing. America? Or Trump.
“Donald Trump has completely failed at governing,” said George Conway, cofounder of The Lincoln Project. “He’s no longer hiding that he’s a brazen authoritarian, so desiring of control and power that he’s willing to turn our once peaceful cities into war zones for his own political gain, at the direct expense of American lives.”
Conway is the husband of Trump advisor Kellyanne Conway, but that’s another story, which you can read about here.
Separately today, the Mayor of Washington, Muriel Bowser, renamed a portion of 16th Street leading up to the White House, where Monday's demonstrators were protesting, "Black Lives Matter Plaza."
And as a daily reminder to Trump that black lives do indeed matter, she had the moniker painted on the street in big yellow letters, clearly visible from the White House.
