Royal Canin Partners With PetSmart, Chewy, Banfield For #Cat2Vet

Royal Canin is launching its annual campaign tied to National Take Your Cat to the Vet Day, Aug. 22. 

The company is partnering with celebrity and pet industry advocates including Banfield Pet Hospital, Chewy and PetSmart to encourage pet owners to schedule regular veterinary checkups for their feline companions.

Actress and cat lover Mayim Bialik, veterinarian and reality television star Dr. Diarra Blue and kitten rescuer Hannah Shaw (Kitten Lady) are on board to help raise awareness with a #Cat2Vet public service announcement emphasizing the need for cats to visit their veterinarian on a regular basis.

Despite the gap in preventative veterinary visits, cat owners have deep bonds with their cats and are curious about ways to better care for their cats, according to the pet health nutrition company, which surveyed 2,000 cat owners (57% have dogs too).  



Three-quarters of those surveyed say they couldn’t have gotten through the quarantine without their pet.

Consumers said because of pets they felt less alone (57%), less anxious (49%), had someone to talk to (41%), kept a more consistent schedule (39%), felt more positive (32%) and moved more (47%). 

A whopping 86% want to take better care of their cats because their cats take care of them and 66% plan to change how they care for their pet after COVID-19.
