Wongdoody Announces Black Female Scholarship Fund

Wongdoody is acting on its pledge to Increase the representation and opportunities for Blacks in advertising by launching the Creative Black Womxn to Watch scholarship.

The opportunity is open to all Black female students meeting criteria, including cisgender, transgender, nonbinary, queer, genderqueer, genderfluid, and in-transition womxn. It is intentionally designed to be inclusive by allowing applicants to self-define gender.

Candidates apply here by November 1. In addition to being Black and identifying as a woman, eligibility requirements include completion of two years of undergraduate studies or first year of portfolio or graduate school. Candidates must also be pursuing a creative-focused role in experience design, marketing or advertising, including but not limited to experience designer, strategist and content creators.

Since 2015, Wongdoody has awarded biannual scholarships supporting womxn in advertising, but agency leaders decided this year the current racial climate required this program to focus solely on Black womxn.

“There is a glaring lack of diversity in the creative industry,” said Wongdoody President Skyler Mattson. “Wongdoody has more than tripled our representation of African-American employees over the last three years, so we know there is Black talent out there.”
